It is actually similar to Substance Painter which I would also love to see a boost in performance on.ĭoes anyone have experiences with it? How does it perform in day to day? Since OTOY is working on Octane for Metal and I only used Arnold on C4D before, this may be a more clever (and actually cheaper if I sell my current computer) update. This 3D modeling software for Mac gives you a lot of specialized and customized brushes. ZBrush, as the name suggests, also uses brushes, however, it gives you more options. The difference is mainly in workflow and some tools.

You start with a pre-loaded shape and add details. And I have heard fantastic things about M1 but I have not seen any reviews that focus on graphics software performance (which is another story, why these Pro computers get PP and AE performance analysis at best) and would love to hear from someone who owns one/has worked on one.Īs I do sculpts for artworks rather than asset modelling I often hit high polycounts but my current computer chucks at around 10m polys, sculpting feeling like it is 15 FPS at times. ZBrush Zbrush works in a similar way to Mudbox. I am thinking of upgrading my current set up - MBP 13" 2K19 to M1 over buying an eGPU which has its own issues and apparently does not boost zBrush performance much at all since it is more CPU powered.
